- Season of sowing: Early summer or Spring.
- Well-draining soil is essential to grow okra. Cocopeat, soil and vermicompost can be used as potting soil.
- Sow seeds in 1 inch deep at a distance of 1 feet from each other.
- HDPE grow bags of size 09×12(1 plant), 12×12(2 plants), 15×12(3 plants) is suitable for growing it.
- Add manures such as compost, seaweed etc., when the plant begins to shoot-up.
- Okra requires proper sunlight and regular watering. Avoid over-watering.
- Okra plants mature in 2 months and it takes up to 12 weeks for production.
- Alphids are the common insects that attracts okra plants. It can be avoided by spraying organic repellents such as neem oil, agni astra or other pest repellents.
- Okra pods starts to appear after 2 to 3 days of flower appearance. Once the lady’s finger grows up to 2 to 4 inches height, harvest it and enjoy home grown healthy and tasty lady’s finger.
